Who is Mr Miller?

Mr Miller was educated at Westminster School.  He qualified from St Bartholomew’s Hospital London and became Senior Lecturer at The Institute of Urology.  He was appointed Head of Department at the Whittington Hospital in 1986.  In 2006, he gained honorary contracts at UCH and The Royal Free Regional Cancer Centres.

He now practises privately at The Hospital of St John and St Elizabeth.  He is appraised yearly and validated by the GMC for medical practice.  His clinical practice has benefitted from an extensive research background.  He has 30 years of consultant level urology experience and is an internationally acknowledged pioneer and expert in minimally invasive and medical treatments in urology. He is recognised by most UK medical insurers.

In order to provide a comprehensive patient-focused service Mr Miller has established an extensive team of nationally recognised specialists who deal with all the associated aspects of urology.  These include Anaesthetics, Pain Management Services, Uro-radiology, Clinical Oncology (radiotherapy), Medical Oncology (chemotherapy), Psychourology, Neurology and Nephrology experts.

He is fortunate to have access to the latest diagnostic imaging including 3TMRI, CT Urography, PET CT, state of the art Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine and Videourodynamics. Patients benefit from these unrivalled experts and facilities.

22 March 2020 – European Urology Meeting Amsterdam

Mr Miller has been invited to give three key note addresses at the meeting. They are recognition of his expertise in the field of day surgery and his pioneering work on sedation, local anaesthesia and instrument design as well as his huge experience of the medico-legal implications of day surgery.
The lectures were:
Impact of sedation and local anaesthetics on day case surgery – experience based on 10,000 cases.
Complications of scroto-genital and endoscopic interventions – prevention and management.
Day case surgery and the law – how vulnerable is the urologist.

13th February 2020 – Yearly Appraisal

Mr Miller has successfully completed his yearly appraisal and is looking forward to revalidation in June 2020. The appraiser Mr HW congratulated Mr Miller on the excellent feedback he had received from patients, colleagues and lawyers.

10th November 2019 – Opening of second office in Hampshire

It is anticipated the opening of this office will attract additional work from the home counties. We are currently considering if medico-legal clinical assessments can be carried out at the local private hospitals. Mr Miller will divide his time between the London office and Hampshire.

May 2019 – Dublin Medico-Legal Conference – Maternal Injuries in Childbirth

Mr Miller was an invited speaker giving a key note lecture on ureteric and bladder injuries as well as a further address on the poorly understood subject of bladder overdistention injuries. The talks were very well received and many referrals generated.

May 2019 – Royal Society of Medicine – Presidents Day

Mr Miller had the honour of introducing and presenting the Wickham Memorial Prize to one of his former trainees Professor Tony Young. He was closely involved in setting up the prize with the committee and Anne Wickham who generously endowed the prize in perpetuity. The was a splendid dinner in the Ashmolean Museum to celebrate the inauguration of this prize which will become one of the most sort after accolades in urology.

26th January 2019 – Hospital of St John & St Elizabeth, London – Men’s Health

Mr Miller participated in the Men’s Health Seminar for GP giving a lecture on the management of the prostate in General Practice.  Over one hundred GPs from the area attended the meeting along with several of Mr Millers urological colleagues from the hospital.  Mr Miller had the opportunity to discuss the latest andrology treatments with the newly appointed Consultant Andrologist Ms Philippa Sangster.

19-20th September 2018 – Markree Castle, Collooney, Co. Sligo – Pathways to Progress’, Legal Conference, hosted by Callan Tansey

Mr Miller’s presentation on “The urological and legal implications of spinal cord and cauda equina injuries affecting the bladder” was well received, resulting in lively debate.  Callan Tansey organised a fantastic meeting this year.  It was a wonderful opportunity for Mr Miller to meet his medical and legal colleague to discuss the problems experienced by patient suffering from Caudia Equina Syndrome.

25th April 2018 – John Wickham’s Memorial Service – St Bartholomew the Great

Mr Miller had the honour to give a eulogy at the service which was attended by the worlds leading urologist.  John Wickham is perhaps the single most important surgical innovator in our time.  Mr Miller was fortunate to be his friend and benefited hugely from his mentorship.  He will be greatly missed.

Mr Miller and his team attended this excellent event.  We were able to discuss the requirements for GDPR and how to keep our data secure.  We will be working through the guidelines to ensure we are compliant by May 2018

8th November 2017 Dublin – Mr Miller participated in the seminar on “Out for Justice – Cauda Equina Syndrome Litigation.”

Doireann O’Mahony Barrister organised a informative day.  She was joined on the panel by Mr Miller, Donald Campbell, Stephen Murphy and Jean O’Sullivan. All proceeds from the day have been donated to Spinal Injuries Ireland.  Mr Miller gave a lecture on the urological implications of CES. 7th & 8th September 2018 – Mr Miller attended the Callan Tansey Conference – “Pathway to Progress” hosted at Markee Castle Sligo

The conference was aimed at creating collaboration between stakeholders; clinicians, hospital managers, families, legal professionals and State Agencies to enable all parties to work together to resolve and minimise the impact of medical negligence.

17th July 2017 – Mr Miller successfully applied to be a member of the Academy of Experts.

June 2017 – Launch of our new website

25th – 26th April – Legal Case Dublin

Mr Miller travelled to the Republic of Ireland and gave expert evidence over two days in The Four Courts Dublin (Browne~v~Aut Even Hospital).

10th March 2017 – BMA Medical Legal Conference London. Mr Miller presented on Medical Manslaughter.

Mr Miller was invited to present at this meeting as he was responsible for the evidence which convicted and imprisoned the first urologist on such charges. He has also been involved as an expert witness in the defence of a urologist potentially liable for such charges on behalf of the Defence Unions. This lecture involved a lively debate and many questions from the audience who were keen to hear about the impact of medical manslaughter legislation, wilful neglect and corporate manslaughter and the effect it will have on defensive medicine.

7-8th March 2017 – Mr Miller attended the World Congress in Minimally Invasive Surgery and gave the key note address on Renal Stone Treatment Past Present and Future.

This was not only an opportunity to meet colleagues from all over the world but also to highlight the latest developments and potential future innovations in stone management.

4th March 2017 – Birthday Celebrations

Georgina Miller (Par-time Clerical Assistant) Celebrated her 18th Birthday and one year working at Urology Chambers Limited.

4th February 2017 – Mr Miller presented at GP National Symposium – Female Urinary Conditions in General Practice.

Mr Miller scored on average of 4.8 out of 5 in all feedback categories. This was a great opportunity to deal with this important subject which is often misunderstood by GPs and patients.

23rd Jan 2017  – Mr Miller presented at GP Seminar on Cauda Equina Syndrome and the Role of the GP.

Mr Miller received excellent feedback from participants, scoring between 4.8 and 4.9 out of 5 in all audited aspects of his presentation. Mr Miller continues his keen interest in communicating with GP colleagues and assisting them with urological and legal problems.

5th January 2017 – Urology Chambers Limited celebrated its 5th Anniversary at The Ritz.

We all raised a glass of champagne and will be looking forward to another successful year.

Mr Miller is an approved consultant with most insurers: BUPA, PPP, Simply Health, Norwich Union, Cigna, Civil Service Scheme, and many others.

Direct settlement is possible.

Patients not seen in the preceding three years will be classified as a new patient (£250)  even if similar symptomatology experienced.

Hospital package deals can be arranged.

Please note that patients remain responsible for settlement of their accounts or any balance outstanding from insurance companies.  Invoices should be paid within 30 days of receipt.  Interest is payable on late fees (currently 8% plus the Bank of England base rate). Debt recovery cost will be charged up to 20% +VAT if accounts are not settled in a timely fashion.

Outpatient Fees (uninsured patients)

New Patient Consultation - £250

Follow up Consultation - £180

Patients not seen in the preceding three years will be classified as a new patient (£250)  even if similar symptomatology experienced.

Operative Fees (uninsured patients)

Quotations given for uninsured patients (please call 0208 341 3422)

Hospital package deals can be arranged.

Please note that patients remain responsible for settlement of their accounts or any balance outstanding from insurance companies.  Invoices should be paid within 30 days of receipt.  Interest is payable on late fees (currently 8% plus the Bank of England base rate). Debt recovery cost will be charged up to 20% +VAT if accounts are not settled in a timely fashion.
