Blood in Urine (haematuria)
Passing frank blood in your urine is extremely alarming.
It is comforting to know that the commonest cause is a Urinary Tract Infection. However, it is essential to exclude more sinister causes such as bladder and kidney cancer.
Sometimes your doctor may refer you with Microscopic Haematuria which is the passage of blood cells in the urine without obvious discolouration.
Once again, the commonest causes are benign.
It remains vital to exclude non-symptomatic urological cancers.
